Unknown assailants launched an attack on a checkpoint in Daraa countryside on Sunday (December 22), killing Russian mercenaries, local media reported.

Two Russian mercenaries were shot dead by unknown persons on a motorcycle in the city of Nawa in Dara western countryside, Horan Free League reported.

Earlier on Sunday, unknown gunmen attacked a checkpoint where regime's Fourth Division are stationed near Sahm al-Golan village in Daraa western countryside, killing four Assad militiamen and wounding others.

Earlier this month, NFL fighters thwarted Russian incursion attempt at Khalsa battlefront, killing and injuring Russian special forces soldiers.

In September, NFL fighters thwarted Russian incursion attempt at Ejaz battlefront, killing a Russian sniper and injuring his fellow Russian mercenaries.

 The death toll of Russian mercenaries killed in Syria has reached to more than 100 soldiers since its direct military intervention on Sept. 29, 2015 to bolster Assad regime. However, Russian activists confirm that the death toll of the Russian soldiers is much higher.
