Lebanon's PM resigns
Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri handed over his resignation letter to Lebanon's President Michel Aoun at the Baabda Palace, in Baabda Lebanon in Tuesday (October 29),

Al Hariri said that he reached to a dead end and after 13 days of nationwide protests.

France called on Lebanese authorities to guarantee stability and national unity in the country after al-Hariri resigned.

"Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri has just resigned a few moments ago, which makes the crisis even worse in a way," French Foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told the National Assembly.

"Will politicians and political authorities decide to build Lebanon together? Will they put the collective interest of the country ahead of their of their own? That is the question posed by Prime Minister Hariri's resignation," he added.

The move by Hariri, the leading Sunni politician, points to rising political tensions that may complicate the formation of a new government that can tackle the worst economic crisis since Lebanon's 1975-90 civil war.
