Syrian opposition and Turkish flags wave in Raqqa's Ras al Ain

Turkey-backed opposition fighters and Turkish soldiers waved Turkish and Syrian opposition flags on the rooftop of the town hall in Ras al Ain on Wednesday (October 23).

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said last week it had pulled out all its fighters from the border town of Ras al Ain as part of a US-brokered deal to withdraw from a "safe zone" that Turkey aims to establish near its border.

Early on Wednesday, the United States told Turkey the withdrawal of Kurdish militants from the "safe zone" Ankara demands in northern Syria was complete, according to a statement by Turkish defence ministry.
