Syrian NGO Alliance (SNA) organized a sit-in in Idlib city on World Humanitarian Day, Monday (August 19) to commemorate humanitarian workers who have been killed or attacked in course of their work in Syria.

The gathering was attended by more than 250 humanitarian workers from 22 Syrian NGOs working in Northwest Syria.

Participants carried a poster including 165 photographs of humanitarian workers who have been killed in Syria.

The participants expressed solidarity with humanitarian workers in Syria, whether injured, detained, kidnapped.

They demanded the international community and the United Nations to shoulder their responsibilities in protecting the humanitarian workers and facilities in northwest Syria.

World Humanitarian Day, on 19 August, is an annual occasion to commemorate humanitarian workers who have been killed or attacked in course of their work, and to honour those who continue to take risks every day to provide life-saving aid to those who need it.

This year the contribution of women humanitarians throughout the world, and their strength, power and perseverance are being honoured.
