Iranian regime commander warns of seizing UK oil tanker

A senior commander in Iranian's elite Revolutionary Guards warned on Friday (July 5) that it would be Tehran's "duty" to seize a British oil tanker if an Iranian tanker detained in Gibraltar was not immediately released.

British Royal Marines seized the supertanker Grace 1 on Thursday for trying to take oil to Assad regime in violation of EU sanctions.

The crew on the giant tanker are being interviewed as witnesses, not criminals, in an effort to establish the nature of the cargo and its ultimate destination, a spokesman for the British territory said.
