John Kerry: Trump is "gaslighting Americans"

Speaking at the Viva Tech technology forum in Paris, Kerry said political disruption across the globe including Brexit, the UK's withdrawal from the European Union and the Yellow vests movement in France was being exploited by ''demagogues'' on the internet.

Kerry said more needed to be done in tackling violent or extremist content being shared on social media platforms.

His comments come after world leaders met in Paris on Wednesday (May 15) to support a call by New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern for stronger measures against social media hate speech after a gunman killed 51 people in Christchurch and streamed the attack live on his Facebook page.
