Turkish soldier killed in Syria
One Turkish soldier was killed and one other injured in an attack in northern Syria, Turkey’s National Defense Ministry said on Sunday (March 31), AA reported.

Turkish soldier was killed in a mortar attack by the terrorists in the area where Turkey has conducted Operation Olive Branch to liberate Afrin, northwestern Syria,from YPG/PKK and ISIS terrorists, a statement by the ministry read.

Under the right of self-defense, Turkish security forces retaliated the terrorist attack with shelling, the statement noted.

"We offer our condolences to martyr’s family, Turkish Armed Forces, and our nation,” the statement said.

The statement also wished speedy recovery for the injured soldier.

Turkish Armed Forces and their allies the Free Syrian Army (FSA) captured the bordering Jarablus, al-Rai and al-Bab cities from ISIS during Operation Euphrates Shield launched in August 2016.
