Russian jets have attacked residential neighbourhoods and a prison in the city of Idlib, Orient News' Anas Tracey says.
The air attacks killed at least 10 people and injured dozens.
White Helmets volunteers posted online footage of the moments which followed the airstrikes which caused fires in civilians' houses.
Pictures published online by activists showed what seemed to be a number of prisoners fleeing in the aftermath of the Russian airstrikes.
Idlib is controlled by anti-Assad regime forces and opposition groups with a population swollen by the regime’s advances in other parts of the country.
