US-led coalition concedes that hospital in Syria was struck
The US-led coalition against ISIS on Monday conceded that a hospital was struck in eastern Syria.

The Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in a press release that ISIS terrorists used Hejin Hospital in Deir ez-Zoor countryside as a platform to engage partner forces, PKK-affiliated Syrian Democratic Forces, on Sunday.

"By these actions, ISIS caused the hospital to lose its protected status afforded by the Law of Armed Conflict by using a facility otherwise protected under the Geneva Conventions," said the coalition.

The SDF captured on Sunday (December 9) a hospital from ISIS after heavy clashes that took place in the city of Hejin in Deir ez-Zoor eastern countryside.

The Hejin's Hospital was ISIS defense line in the city, it was lost to SDF supported by the US-led coalition airstrikes.

SDF is launching an offensive on ISIS pockets in the city of Hejin and the villages of Abu al-Hasen and Abu al-Khater in the city of Bukamal.

On Friday (December 7) airstrikes carried out by the US-led coalition killed eleven people; six children, three women and two ISIS militants.

UN voiced deep concern for at least 7,000 civilians who it said were trapped between ISIS preventing them from leaving Deir ez Zoor and airstrikes by the US-led coalition.
