Sixth anniversary of Darayya massacre remembered
The Twenty fifth of August, 2012 is the date of the biggest massacre committed by the Assad militias in Darayya in Damascus countryside against the innocent peaceful Syrian civilians.

Beginning on 25 August and continuing for most of the following week, Assad militias perpetrated one of the worst massacres of the war in Darayya. Men, women and children were dragged into the street for execution or shot dead in their homes. A minimum of 700 people were murdered.

Darayya’s young men and activists, who were forcibly displaced from their town, staged on Sunday ( August 25)  a sit in Idlib to mark this horrible massacre.

“We call that day "black blood day", Assad militiamen killed people in cold blood. Almost every family lost one or more of their beloved members. A young man was killed with 17 bullets in his face,” a young man told Orient. “The scenes of murdered people, and barbarous treatment of the bodies were unbearable,” he added.

“Five of my relatives were killed, the bodies of two of whom were burnt, and ten others were lost. After the massacre we found dead bodies in the wells and farm lands,” another young man said.

“During three days Darayya’s people lost more than 750 persons of their beloved ones, including more than 115 child, and 75 woman. Moreover, more than 450 civilian disappeared. Six years later, the Assad regime told their families that they are dead,” an activist told Orient.

Activists carried placard which reads “we will never forget Darayya massacre”, and photos of innocent children killed that day.
