Australia’s Far North Syrian billionaire developer meets with Queensland Premier
Australia’s Far North Syrian billionaire developer has met with the Queensland Premier to discuss his ambitious plans for the Cairns tourist accommodation industry.

GA Group owner Ghassan Aboud has already unveiled three $ 100 million-plus hotel developments for Cairns and he this week met with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to talk about his significant investments in the Far North.

The meeting was attended by Mr Aboud and his wife Nahed Nabhan, Ms Palaszczuk, Treasurer Curtis Pitt, Cairns Regional Council Mayor Bob Manning, GA Group Australia chief executive Mark Davie, and Andy Taylor from GA Group’s principal contractor Prime Constructions.

Mr Davie said he was “very happy” with the outcomes of the meeting and looked forward to working with the Queensland Government into the future.

“Our vision for Crystalbrook Collection is not only to deliver unique lifestyle experiences to visitors that are authentic to the magnificent regions in which they are based, but also to support jobs and growth within industry,” he said.

“We are really looking to substantially invest in the Cairns and North Queensland industries.”

Discussions also included the Crystalbrook Collections’ three landmark $ 100-million-dollar hotel developments in Cairns and the two tourism enterprises, outback destination Crystalbrook Lodge and 28 metre (90 foot) luxury motor cruiser MV Bahama.

The group also spoke about Crystalbrook Collection’s latest acquisition, a Queensland cattle property, which would supply beef to the Cairns hotel restaurants.

When asked about his reason behind the cattle property purchase, Ghassan Aboud believed it would add another authentic “Crystalbrook Signature” to the Crystalbrook Collection, supplying beef grown from the property to his Cairns hotel restaurants “from paddock to plate”.

Mr Aboud has previously praised the “warm welcome” he and the GA Group had received from the region’s representatives and reiterated that this was one of the things connected him to the region.

Prime Constructions, a local Cairns company, will carry out the construction of GA Group’s projects.
