Fatth al-Sham, several opposition groups announce merger
A new opposition military body has been declared by a number of opposition fighting factions including Jabhat Fatth al-Sham, which, in the past couple of days, launched surprising attacks on a number of factions because they “signed on agreements with Russia”.

The new military formation, named Hai’at Tahrir al-Sham “Levant Liberation Body,” was declared Saturday evening by a number of fighting factions operating in Aleppo western countryside.

The merged factions are Jabhat Fatth al-Sham, Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement, Liwa al-Haq, Jabhat Ansar al-Din, and Jaysh al-Sunna.

Commander Hashem al-Sheikh, a previous chief of Ahrar al-Sham, was chosen to be the chief of the new body.

On Thursday, a number of ppposition fighting groups joined the major factions of Ahrar al-Sham. The joining factions were Soquor al-Sham, al-Jabha al-Shamiya (Aleppo countryside branch), Jaysh al-Islam (Idlib branch), Jaysh al-Mujahideen, Thuwar al-Sham Brigades, and Fastaqim group.
