Trump criticizes Russia, Obama’s inaction in Syria
The United States President-elect Donald Trump condemned Russia’s involvement in Syria and criticized Obama’s failure to restrain Assad regime.

In an interview with The Times newspaper published Monday, Trump criticized the American inaction in Syria: “It’s a very bad thing, we had a chance to do something when we had the line in the sand and . . . nothing happened.” Trump added that “security zones” should have been set in Syria.

Trump also condemned Russia’s involvement in the aggression on Aleppo. Russia played a vital role in the offensive on eastern Aleppo by providing air support for Iran-backed militias and Assad regime.

Trump said: “Aleppo was nasty. I mean when you see them shooting old ladies walking out of town — they can’t even walk and they’re shooting them — it almost looks like they’re shooting them for sport — ah no, that’s ... a terrible situation.”

In 22 December, Iran-backed militias and Assad regime with air support from Russian warplanes occupied eastern Aleppo after a brutal offensive that killed hundreds of civilians and destroyed most of the eastern neighborhoods’ hospitals, schools and infrastructure.
