US Department of Defense declared on Saturday that Coalition warplanes killed a prominent ISIS leader in an airstrike in Raqqa on November 26.

Boubaker al-Hakim, 33 years, a Tunisian, has been a long-time terrorist with deep ties to French and Tunisian jihadist elements, Press Secretary Peter Cook said in a statement.

The killed ISIS figure is also suspected of involvement in the 2013 terror attacks against Tunisian political leadership, Cook added.

Al-Hakim’s death degrades ISIS’ ability to conduct further attacks in the West and denies ISIS a veteran extremist with extensive ties, Cook said in the statement.
