The Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) Southern Front said today that its members launched a major offensive in Horan plain (Daraa) to recapture areas occupied last month by Assad terrorists, Orient News correspondent said.
The media office of al-Furqan Brigades said in a statement, which Orient Net received a copy of, that the opposition launched a new offensive named, “Bind the Bonds Firmly,” to recapture the al-Mahjorah Barracks, Abo Kaser checkpoints and al-Taweel farms from Assad terrorists.
The assault also aims at blocking the highway which links Daraa to Damascus.
Opposition fighters started their offensive with shelling Assad terrorists and their allied Shiite mercenaries in al-Mahjorah Barracks to the east of Ibtaa in Daraa countryside.
Meanwhile, three Assad regimes defectors were secured until they reached the opposition-held areas. The defectors were members in Assad regime’s Abo Kaser military checkpoint.
In Kherbet Ghazaleh, opposition fighters destroyed 4 Assad regime’s tanks and 1 BMP vehicle in heavy clashes erupted on the outskirts of the town and ended in taking control of three Assad regime’s checkpoints, according to Syria Live Network.
Assad terrorists and the allied Shiite mercenaries took control last month of the Mahjorah Barracks aiming at linking the towns of Sheikh Meskeen, Ibta’a, Da’el and Ottoman together to secure a supply route for the regime’s remaining neighborhoods in the city of Daraa.
