In one week, Israeli military strikes again targets in Syria
The Israeli military said its aircraft struck targets in Syria after a projectile hit the Israeli-controlled part of the Golan Heights.

The military said on Thursday that it hit Syrian Forces mortar launchers overnight. The military declined to describe the projectile that landed on Wednesday, saying only that it caused no injuries.

Israel has largely remained on the sidelines of the war in Syria, but has carried out similar reprisals on Syrian positions when errant fire has previously landed in Israeli-controlled territory.

On Sunday, The Israeli warplanes hit positions in al-Quneirta countryside south of Syria after mortar fire struck the Israeli-occupied zone of the Golan Heights.

"Assad regime and its ally, the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist group, have always made statements after such Israeli attacks in which they threatened to militarily react in the appropriate time and place. But the reaction took place in Aleppo and Damascus countryside by more barrel bombs and more tactics of starvation and siege against Syrian civilians," a Syrian observer previously told Orient Net on condition of anonymity.

Israel occupied 1,200 square kilometres of the Golan Heights from Syria in the Six-Day War of 1967 and later annexed it in a move never recognized by the international community.
