Hijab presents opposition’s vision of solution in Syria
Dr. Riyad Hijab, the General Coordinator of the High Negotiation Committee (HNC), presented on Wednesday the Syrian opposition’s vision of the transitional period in Syria.

Hijab said that the transitional period would start with Assad and his junta leaving power.

Speaking at a press conference in London, Hijab presented the vision of the Syrian opposition which consists of three phases.

The first is a 6-month negotiation process, according to Hijab. He pointed out that this phase requires adhering to a truce in Syria.

The General Coordinator added that the second phase contains forming a Transitional Governing Body with full executive powers. The Transitional Governing Body, according to Hijab, shall form a Constitutional Court, a Reconstruction Committee, and a National Reconciliation Committee.

The Transitional Body should be tasked with representing Syria in the international forums. It should handle combating terrorism, as well, according to Hijab.

He also pointed out that the outcomes of the national dialogue and the results of the constitutional revisions afterwards will be implemented.

In the third phase, elections will be held under the supervision and support of the UN.

Orient Net published yesterday on Tuesday an exclusive draft of the Syrian opposition’s vision.
