O’Brien to Orient News: UN not satisfied with agreements done in besieged areas
Orient News made on Friday an interview with United Nations’ Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Stephen O’Brien, in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

Orient News interviewer asked the UN’s top aid official about the last report issued by The Guardian which accuses the UN with funding the Assad regime through aid program. O’Brien answered that this needs proof or evidence, pointing out, at the same time, that the UN should impartially reach to all those in need inside Syria.

In regards to targeting al-Waer neighborhood in Homs with incendiary napalm bombs by Assad regime, he said that these are allegations that need investigation.

In a similar context, Stephen O’Brien, said on Friday in a press conference held in Amman that the UN has a firm and clear attitude that an unconditional access should be maintained to all besieged areas in Syria.

When asked about the agreements that are taking place in the besieged areas in order to displace the local population, O’Brien said that these agreements should not happen without the UN’s participation, but it is not satisfied with them.

In connection with the aggravating humanitarian situation in al-Rakban Camp on the northeastern borders of Jordan, O’Brien said that there are focused discussions with the Jordanian government to guarantee the continuity of allowing aid in, in addition to preserving the security and stability of Jordan.

O’Brien described the situation there as tragic and horrible after visiting the area.

The full interview with Stephen O’Brien will be broadcast on Orient News TV later this week.
