Russia’s web of lies

‎"There is no agreement to conduct joint air strikes with the Russians in Syria. What we are discussing with our Russian counterparts ... are proposals for a sustainable mechanism to better monitor and enforce the cessation of hostilities (COH)," State Department spokesman John Kirby said in a statement after Russia announced it and the US are staging joint air strikes on Syrian opposition.

“There is no agreement” says Russia is lying, as usual. 

This response by the US State Department rejects Russian lies that a joint military force will take place against the Syrian people who opposed Assad regime. 

This has not been the first time that Russia has publicly lied, and it has not been the first time that Russia drags the US into its web of lies. 

Russia entered the conflict in Syria under the pretext of fighting ISIS militants but in reality it was aiming to bolster Assad’s crippling power.

Reuters reported in October, 2015 – which was less than a month since Russia entered the conflict in Syria – that Russian warplanes pounded Syrian opposition unaffiliated with ISIS, helping Moscow’s ally Assad reclaim territory.

While in December, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International released reports detailing multiple airstrikes in civilian areas that they said were attributable to the Russian air force.

Mail Online reported a study on April 21 that stated the air strikes by Assad and Russia have now killed more than 10,000 civilians in Syria.

Russia’s discourse has changed; for now it is publicly assuming a joint US military coalition will take place against the Syrian opposition; however, its lies have deviated in another direction; instead of lying about who they will bomb, they lie about who agrees to join their brutal military and allies.

The world is fed up with Russia’s constant and deliberate lying that has caused thousands of lives in Syria and around the globe. The world is also fed up with the US’ inconsistent and hesitant Middle East policy – especially in Syria – that allowed Russia to resurface as a "world power".
