Food commodities and gold prices rise in Syria markets
Today, the Syrian pound (SP) continues falling sharply against currencies with gold setting new records while prices of food commodities and vegetables rise in Damascus markets.

In Damascus province, US dollar selling at 437 and buying at 433, the Turkish lira buying at 148 and selling at 149, EUR selling at 489 and buying at 496, and the Saudi riyal buying at 115, and selling at 117.

In the same context, gold price rise keeps breaking new records. The 18 carat gold price was 12,600 SP while the 21 carat gold price was 14,700 in Damascus market.

Vegetable prices hit new records in Damascus. The price of a kilo of cucumber went up to 400 SP, while a kilo of lemons is 310 SP, and a kilo of apples is 250 SP, while the average price of a kilo of veal reached 3200 SP.

It is worth mentioning that before 2011, a USD was worth less than 50 SP.
