Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets on Friday (October 25) in Deir ez-Zoor countryside, chanting anti-Assad and anti-Iranian backed militias slogans under the slogan “Assad and Iran are the axis of terrorism”, local media reported.

The protests took place after Friday prayers for the sixth consecutive week in several Deir ez-Zoor countryside’s villages and towns, including al-Shheel and al-Shaitat, Euphrates Post and Deir ez-Zoor 24 reported.

The demonstrators demanded the expulsion of the Assad and Iranian militiamen from their villages and towns east of the Euphrates.

The peaceful demonstrators raised placards in support of Lebanese and Iraqi demonstrators.

Last month, at least two civilians were shot dead in Deir ez-Zoor countryside as Assad militiamen clamped down on a peaceful demonstration.

Assad and Iranian-backed militias control several villages and towns in Deir ez-Zoor countryside where civilians face miserable conditions.
