Almost week-long protests continue across Lebanon
Protesters remained on the streets across Lebanon throughout Tuesday (October 22) evening, on the sixth day of anti-government demonstrations.

Hundreds of thousands of people have flooded streets across Lebanon since Thursday (October 17), furious at a political class they accuse of pushing the economy to the point of collapse.

Banks will remain closed for a fifth working day amid uncertainty over how Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri plans to extract billions of dollars from the financial sector to help ease an economic crisis that has ignited national protests.

The protests have been extraordinary because of their size and geographic reach in a country where political movements are normally divided on sectarian lines and struggle to draw nationwide appeal.
