Demonstrations in Deir ez-Zoor against Assad, Iranian militias

Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets on Friday (Sep. 27) in Deir ez-Zoor countryside, chanting anti-Assad and anti-Iranian backed militias slogans, local media reported.

The protests took place for the second consecutive week in several Deir ez-Zoor countryside’s villages and towns, including al-Salihiyah, al-Maizlia and Izba, Euphrates Post and Deir ez-Zoor 24 reported.

The demonstrators headed towards al-Salhiya crossing, demanding the expulsion of the Assad and Iranian militiamen from their villages and towns, knowing that Syrian democratic forces (SDF) tried to prevent them from entering al-Salihiyah town.

The peaceful demonstrators raised placards in support of Idlib province.

Last week, at least two civilians were shot dead in Deir ez-Zoor countryside as Assad militiamen clamped down on a peaceful demonstration.

Assad and Iranian-backed militias control several villages and towns in Deir ez-Zoor countryside where civilians face miserable conditions.
