The White Helmets rescue group said on Tuesday (August 20) that one of its volunteers was killed by the Assad or Russian airstrikes launched on Hama countryside.

Suheil Nassar succumbed to his wounds while he was doing his job in rescuing civilians in al-Ghab plain in Hama countryside.

Meanwhile, Russian warplanes bombed civilian homes in several villages and towns in Idlib countryside, including Benin, Talmans, Jarjanaz and Deir Sharqi, injuring at least six civilians, including a woman.

More than 270 White Helmets volunteers have been killed in Syria since 2011.

The rescue group was founded in 2014 and provides aid and rescue to those affected by Assad and Russian bombings in the country.
