Airstrikes target Maaret al-Numan market in Idlib countryside, killings reported

Russian warplanes have targeted a popular marketplace in the city of Maaret al-Numan in Idlib southern countryside, killing and injuring civilians, Orient News correspondent said.  

At least three civilians were killed by the airstrikes on Monday (June 3), Idlib Media Centre reported.

Similar airstrikes took place in  Maarazata and other Idlib towns and villages. 

In the first hours of Monday (June 3), Assad incendiary bombs burned farmlands in Idlib countryside's Sheikh Mustafa, according to Orient News' Hashem al Abdullah.  

Syrian media activists posted photos of what they called foods bought for Muslim Eid al-Fitr Festival mixed with dust and blood of civilians as Muslims are preparing to mark this sacred occasion immediately after Ramadan finishes. 

On Sunday (June 2), the airstrikes hit the towns of Kafr Oweid, Kafralateh, Hazarin and Maaret Herme, Idlib Media Centre reported while the White Helmets volunteers posted pictures of what they said injured civilians in the aftermath of the air attacks.

Three civilians were killed and seventeen were injured as a total death toll on Sunday, according to Orient News' Anas Tracy.

Idlib , Hama northern countryside and Aleppo countryside are in the de-escalation zone deal reached by Turkey and Russian last September. 

US President Donald Trump called on Russia, Iranian regime and Assad militia to stop bombing Idlib province.

"Hearing word that Russia, Syria and, to a lesser extent, Iran, are bombing the hell out of Idlib Province in Syria, and indiscriminately killing many innocent civilians. The World is watching this butchery. What is the purpose, what will it get you? STOP!," he tweeted late on Sunday (June 2).
