Syrian child found hanged in refugee camp
An 11-year-old Syrian boy died in Lebanon on Friday (Feb. 8) after he was found hanged in a storage tent in a refugee camp in Marjayoun’s Marj al-Khoukh, Daily Star reported.

The boy, M.H. was found hanging from a rope. He was dead by the time his cousin found him and took him to the Marjayoun Governmental Hospital.

A source at the Amel Association, which attends to refugee needs in the camp, told The Daily Star that the boy was found in a tent that is used to store wood, located in a relatively remote area, away from other tents.

The source said this particular camp is home to many families suffering from psychological difficulties in adapting to their new situation.

According to the source, the boy had been in a “good psychological condition,” and had participated in multiple projects organized by the association. However, the source said the boy had recently stopped attending school.

Local news channel LBCI reported that the boy hanged himself after having an argument with his parents.

However, a security source told The Daily Star that investigations were ongoing to undercover the circumstances behind M.H.’s death.
