An explosion took place in the city of Afrin in northern Syria on Sunday (January 20), Orient News correspondent said.

The explosion targeted a bus of civilians, but according to video footage, men with military uniform were injured or killed.

Afrin is under the control of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) backed by the Turkish military. Earlier, it was controlled by PKK-affiliated SDF/YPG militias.

A FSA-Turkish operation, Olive Branch Operation, was launched in 2017, driving out and neutralizing the Kurdish militias in 2018.
