New procedures on Morek crossing
Morek crossing between the Assad regime and the opposition-held areas on Damascus-Aleppo highway will be subject to new arrangements under the terms of the Turkish-Russian agreement, Orient correspondent said.

The crossing, which is 30 kilometres north of Hama, will be run by a civilian administration under the protection of the Syrian opposition factions and Turkish supervision within the opposition-held areas in Hama northern countryside, Orient correspondent  added, quoting a Turkish official in Hama countryside.

 While the Assad regime’s customs administration and Assad’s security forces will run the opposite side under Russian supervision.

The Turkish side will supervise the international road from Morek crossing to the entrance of Aleppo city, according to Orient correspondent.

While the Russian occupation forces will be stationed at the entrance to Soran city, on the opposite side of Morek crossing.

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin reached an agreement to establish a demilitarized zone (DMZ) between the Assad regime’s controlled areas, opposition factions’ controlled areas in Idlib Hama and Aleppo countryside.

In October 2017, the Turkish army began setting up observation points in the framework of an agreement signed in September of the same year between Turkey, Russia and Iranian regime in Astana.
