FSA kills group of Assad militiamen in Latakia countryside

The Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) National Front for Liberation said it shelled an Assad militia’s position on Thursday (August 23) in Latakia countryside, killing and injuring a group of the them.

The FSA group said it targeted the Assad militiamen near the Aqqo Axis in Latakia northern countryside with artillery shells, confirming the killing of 18 Assad members in the operation, including officers.  

The Assad regime-affiliated social media accounts confirmed the death toll.

Latakia northern countryside is located in the north of Syria near the Turkish border. It is a de-escalation zone controlled by the opposition allied fighters.
