Iraqi protesters close border crossing with Kuwait
Dozens of Iraqis took to the streets on Sunday (August 12) to protest against the lack of proper regime’s services and jobs.

In Basra, the main southern oil hub city at the edge of the Gulf, protesters closed the Safewan border crossing with Kuwait, chanting slogans and raising placards which read "Say the truth even if your voice is trembling".

Eyewitnesses said the street was closed and the traffic was paralyzed near the border crossing.

Tensions over basic services come at a sensitive time when Iraqi political blocs are attempting to form a coalition government after a May 12 parliamentary election tainted by allegations of fraud.
