Turkey’s Harran University to start education in Syria’s al-Bab

Turkey’s Harran University in southeastern Sanliurfa will establish a faculty in Syria’s northwestern Al-Bab city which will provide trilingual education in Turkish, Arabic and English, the university’s rector told Anadolu Agency.

Al-Bab city is located inside Turkey’s Operation Euphrates Shield area.

Students from Euphrates Shield and Operation Olive Branch areas will benefit from the faculty.

Professor Ramazan Tasaltin said the new session will start next month.

He said six departments will be opened in the first phase and trilingual education in Turkish, Arabic and English will be provided.

Tasaltin said the first two years of university education will be provided in Al-Bab and the remaining two years will be completed in Sanliurfa, Turkey.

He added that it may be possible for them to provide all four years of education in Al-Bab in the next period.

Operation Euphrates Shield, which began in August in 2016 and ended in March 2017, eliminated ISIS terrorists along the Syrian border.
