OIC extraordinary summit on Jerusalem begins in Turkey
The Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Wednesday hold an extraordinary Summit in Istanbul, Turkey to discuss the repercussions of the recognition by the United States Al-Quds as a capital of Israel, a statement from the organization said.

The Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States will hold an extraordinary meeting on the same morning to discuss the move in a unified and coordinated manner in the face of these developments affecting the occupied city of Al-Quds and its historical, legal and political status.

The summit of the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation is expected to be the strongest unified response yet to Washington’s move by the Muslim world.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on countries who follow international law to recognize Jerusalem as the "occupied capital" of Palestine.

Erdogan said in his speech to the gathering that Jerusalem is a "red line" for Muslims who will not accept any aggression on its Islamic sanctuaries. He said East Jerusalem is the capital of a future Palestinian state and called on states that have not recognized a Palestinian state to do so.
