Erdogan calls on Europe to respect human rights, democracy
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday (March 22) that Europeans across the world would not be able to walk safely on the streets if they kept up their current attitude, according to Reuters.

Ties have tensed between Turkey one one side and Germany and the Netherlands on the other side over the barring of campaign appearances by Turkish officials seeking to rally support for an April referendum on boosting the president’s powers.

Erdogan’s latest words came as Turkish officials said they would  hold no further campaign rallies in Germany ahead of an April 16 referendum in Turkey.

German media had previously reported that Erdogan plans to visit Germany this month to rally the estimated 1.4 million eligible Turkish voters living here to support a package of new presidential powers in an April 16 referendum.
