12 civilians killed by US-led coalition airstrikes near Raqqa
Twelve civilians were killed on Thursday and others injured in US-led coalition airstrikes on Raqqa countryside.

An activist-run Facebook page said that coalition jets hit the area of the Church Roundabout in al-Tabqa city in Raqqa western countryside which claimed the lives of 12 civilians, including women and children, and wounded many others.

The airstrikes come as military operations of the so-called Syria Democratic Forces (SDF), whose main component is the Kurdish YPG militia, continue in Raqqa countryside under the pretext of driving out ISIS. Wrath of Euphrates was the name of the SDF operation which has reached phase III last December aiming at isolating Raqqa, the de-facto capital of ISIS.

In a similar context, ISIS extremists regained control Thursday on the villages of al-Suhamiya and Sukkar in Raqqa eastern countryside after ISIS targeted them with two car bombs. Following the car attacks, ISIS carried out an infiltration attack, killing and injuring several militants from SDF.
