40 Assad airstrikes, 55 vacuum bombs target Homs’ al-Waer
Assad warplanes targeted on Saturday (February 25) the civilian-populated al-Waer neighborhood located northwest of Homs city.

Field sources told Orient Net that three Assad warplanes targeted al-Waer neighborhood, carrying out 40 airstrikes and dropping at least 55 vacuum bombs. Hundreds of artillery and mortar shells also hit residential areas in the neighborhood.

Several civilians were reported killed and dozens injured, with many suffering critical injuries and lost limbs. A specific death toll has been reported, however.

The shelling began early Saturday morning and lasted for hours, making it near to impossible for medics to keep up with the amount of injured civilians.

Medical cadres in the area issued a statement urging an end to the Assad shelling as they are unable to provide treatment because of the large number of injuries and lack of emergency and surgical medicine.

In addition, one of the ambulances of the Syria Civil Defense team was rendered out of service, after an Assad airstrike targeted the medical vehicle. Assad warplanes also intensified shelling on many areas in Homs northern countryside.
