So-called Syria Democratic Forces (SDF), the Syrian branch of the PKK, launched Friday (February 24) a military operation in Deir ez-Zoor as it continues to occupy Arab-populated lands in Raqqa countryside under the pretext of fighting ISIS.

In a statement, SDF said that the a recent offensive, it called Wrath of the Euphrates, is now finalizing third phase which aims at isolating Raqqa from Deir ez-Zoor.

The statement pointed out that SDF seized control of three farms and penetrated seven kilometers into the north-eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zoor, following clashes with ISIS. The US-backed Kurdish militia occupied the Arab Jazrat al-Milaj town located on the bank of Euphrates River in the northwestern countryside, advancing towards Jazrat al-Bouhmed town.

At the same time, SDF militia occupied on Friday seven Arab-populated towns located in the eastern Raqqa countryside after clashing with ISIS.

Aaszewstaa Russian newspaper published a news item two weeks ago which stated that a joint military operation between Assad terrorists and so-called People’s Protection Units (YPG) will take place in Deir ez-Zoor under the pretext of fighting ISIS.
