“On the fifth consecutive day, the UN and the Red Cross workers attempted to deliver aid to besieged civilians in Homs’ al-Waer. The convoy departed from their depots in the west of Homs Oil Refinery for this relief mission. When they reached the Assad checkpoint of al-Sheoon, Assad terrorists escalated their shelling on the neighbourhood. The escalation obliged the convoy to return to the depots without fulfilling their mission. On their way, Assad terrorists from the Shia village of al-Mazra’ stopped the convoy. They obliged 22 out of the 35 trucks to head to the Shia village. After offloading the aid, they released the drivers,” the owner of the trucks told Orient News correspondent on condition of anonymity.
It was not the first time the International aid convoys were targeted. Assad jet fighters targeted on the 20th of September in 2016 an aid convoy in Orem al-Kubra town in Aleppo western countryside, killing 12 aid workers and injuring 18 civilians.
