Iran-backed militias occupy al-Qasimiya in eastern Ghouta
Iran-backed Shitte militias exploited the declared ceasefire in Syria to gain more territory in Damascus eastern countryside.

During the past couple of hours, Iran-backed militias captured al-Qasimiya town in Damascus eastern countryside after weeks-long clashes with opposition fighters, Orient News correspondent said. The militias used all types of weapons including those internationally prohibited, our correspondent added, pointing out that by seizing al-Qasimiya, the Shiite militias have encircled the neighboring al-Nashabiya town.

Since the declaration of the ceasefire on December 29, Iran-backed militias occupied the towns of al-Meida’any and al-Bihariya in Damascus eastern countryside. A number of surrounding hills and farmlands were also occupied.

In Damascus western countryside, the militias occupied the towns of Bassimeh and Ein al-Khadra.
