Wadi Barada: Opposition’s going to Astana "stab in the back"
Civil societies and local bodies in the towns and villages of Wadi Barada issued Monday a statement in which they placed the responsibility for the shed Syrian blood on opposition fighting groups and political opposition bodies, which announced participation in the Astana talks due to take place on January 23, for the Syrian despite Assad and Hezbollah terrorists’ breaches of the declared Russian-Turkish Syria ceasefire.

In the statement, the civil bodies of Wadi Barada said that as some opposition fighting factions and political opposition bodies such as the Syrian National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces and the Higher Negotiations Committee agreed to attend the talks in the Kazakh capital, these sides, along with their backer countries and the guarantor countries, bear responsibility for the shed blood of each and every civilian killed by Assad and Hezbollah military campaign on Wadi Barada after signing the ceasefire deal.

“We were hoping that they would show a patriotic stance, which history would forever immortalize, by announcing the collapse of the political process in Syria and not going to Astana as Assad regime never abode by the ceasefire and continued its military campaign on Wadi Barada with the help of Hezbollah terrorists,” excerpts of the statement read.

The civil bodies also said that accepting to go and attend Astana talks by the said opposition fighters and political opposition groups came as a stab in the back to them as they struggle to stop the barbaric sectarian killing machine of Assad and Hezbollah terrorists.

The statement was concluded by stressing that the people of Wadi Barada’s towns and villages would struggle until the end to prevent Hezbollah from controlling their home towns.
