At least 30 die in cargo plane crash in Kyrgyzstan’s capital
30 people at least died Monday after a Turkish cargo jet crashed near Kyrgyzstan’s Manas airport, Kyrgyz officials said.

The majority of the dead were from the village of Dacha-Suu where the plane crashed at around 7.30 am local time (0130 GMT), a spokesman for the country’s emergency services ministry told AFP.

Rescue workers recovered the bodies of 15 people whose houses were in the vicinity of the crash, according to the county’s health ministry, Reuters reported.

Medical staff said that six children were among the victims. Four pilots also died, the health ministry said.

There are reports that one crew member survived, according to BBC.

The plane was due to stop near the Kyrgyz capital city Bishkek en route to Istanbul, when it reportedly crashed trying to land in thick fog.
