Wadi Barada: Calls to announce collapse of political process

Civil societies and local bodies in the towns and villages of Wadi Barada called Saturday (January 14) on Syrian opposition sides to clearly announce the collapse of the political process and not to go to Astana following the Hezbollah and Assad terrorists’nonstop violations of the Russian-Turkish Syria ceasefire. 

A statement published by the local societies on Saturday read :

"The civil societies and civil institutions in the villages and towns of Wadi Barada announce to Syrians the death of the lieutenant general Ahmad al-Gadban, who was killed by Assad treacherous terrorists at the Assad regime’s checkpoint in Deir Qanoon in Wadi Barada. In this assassination, Assad terrorists killed any hope of a peaceful solution to save the Syrian blood.  The assassination has proved that Assad terrorists and their supporters will never abide by any ceasefire. 

Depending on the continuous Assad violations of the ceasefire, we appeal to all opposition fighting groups of our fellow Syrians, who are holding consultations in the Turkish capital Ankara, for clearly announcing the collapse of the political process in Syria. We also appeal to them for not going to Astana.

Syrians in Wadi Barada also call on the Turkish government to shoulder responsibility as a guarantor state in observing the Russian-Turkish Syria ceasefire deal supported by the United Nations Security Council resolution No. 2336. The observance will be in sending monitors to sea the ceasefire on the ground and make sure of Hezbollah and Assad terrorists’ withdrawal from the areas occupied after signing the ceasefire deal."
