Euphrates Shield “neutralizes” 18 ISIS terrorists in northern Syria
Free Syrian Army (FSA) factions backed by the Turkish Army “neutralized” 18 ISIS terrorists on Saturday in northern Syria as part of Operation Euphrates Shield, Anadolu Agency reported citing the Turkish military.

Since the launch of Operation Euphrates Shield, a total of at least 2,085 ISIS terrorists have been neutralized in northern Syria, according to Turkish Armed Forces.

Turkish military sources usually use the word “neutralized” to mean that the target was either killed or captured.

Turkish forces also targeted Friday the so-called Syria Democratic Forces militia (SDF) with artillery shelling in the village of Aon al-Dadaat north of Manbij in Aleppo eastern countryside. The Kurdish YPG militia is the backbone of the SDF. Turkey considers the YPG an extension of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

On 24 August, Turkey-backed FSA factions started Operation Euphrates Shield in northern Syria and have since liberated the cities of Jarablus and al-Raei in addition to dozens of villages in Aleppo countryside. FSA fighters have been advancing towards al-Bab and are now on the outskirts of the city.
