Opposition negates deal in Wadi Barada, Assad attacks continue

Opposition fighters have rejected the claims that a deal has been reached for Assad terrorists to enter the opposition-held Wadi Barada in Damascus western countryside.

Assad regime media spread rumors that a deal has been reached to allow Assad terrorists to enter Ein al-Fijeh town along with maintenance team to fix the water facility of Ein al-Fijeh.

Local sources told Orient Net that no such deal has been reached.

Opposition officials also negated such deal existed. Ahmed Ramadan, an official with the opposition National Coalition, denied any such deal had been reached.

"This information is untrue and is a part of the (regime and its allies’) psychological warfare," he told AFP

The claims of such a deal come as Assad warplanes continue to pound Wadi Barada for the twentieth day.

Four overnight airstrikes hit Wadi Barada on Wednesday, according to Orient News correspondent.

Earlier on Wednesday, our correspondents reported that Assad terrorists intensified their artillery and aerial attacks on the villages of Wadi Barada. The attacks targeted the towns of Bassimeh and Ein al-Fijeh. An airstrike directly targeted Ein al-Fijeh spring facility directly.

At least 40 rockets hit the villages of Ein al-Fijeh as clashes continue between opposition fighters and Assad terrorists, our correspondent reported.

Wadi Barada, located 18 kilometers northwest of Damascus, consists of 13 villages; ten are under opposition control while three are occupied by Assad regime.

A countrywide ceasefire in Syria was declared on Thursday (29 December 2016), after Turkey, Russia and opposition fighting groups reached a deal in the Turkish capital Ankara. According to the deal, Turkey and Russia would act as guarantor countries for the implementation of the ceasefire.
