Assad admits his regime committed atrocities

When asked about the brutal bombardment that destroyed eastern Aleppo and killed a large number of civilians, Assad admitted the crime saying it was “the price sometimes”.

He also tried to justify the crimes and atrocities committed by his regime against civilians by saying that all wars are bad. 

The interview with France Info, LCP and RTL television was published by regime media on Monday.

Assad regime and Iran-backed militias supported by Russian air power took control of eastern Aleppo from opposition fighters after a brutal bombing campaign that killed hundreds of civilians and destroyed most of the eastern neighborhoods of the city, including hospitals, schools and infrastructure. By the end of the campaign, over 200,000 civilians were displaced from their homes in eastern Aleppo.
