Spoiled milk poisons Syrian IDPs in camp near Azaz
More than 250 Syrian IDPs in Shamarekh Camp near Azaz city, north of Aleppo, have suffered poisoning cases after drinking spoiled milk provided to them by a relief organization.

Orient News correspondent, Ammar Jaber, said that a Turkish relief organization distributed around 10,000 milk boxes on Syrian IDPs in Shamarekh Camp near Azaz.

After children had drunk the milk, many poisoning cases were reported, Ammar added, saying that Azaz city’s hospitals and medical points appealed to international organizations to offer help as at least 250 people are suffering poisoning symptoms.

The city’s hospitals asked to be provided with the drip sacks needed to treat poisoning.

Activists published photos of the milk cartons which affected people who had drunk their contents. The milk was not expired, according to the written expiry date. The contained milk, however, was spoiled.

Many relief organizations are active in northern Syria. They distribute humanitarian and food aid to the displaced population in Aleppo northern countryside, especially those who were forcibly displaced from Aleppo by Assad regime and Iran-backed mercenaries in mid-December.

The side in charge of checking the incoming samples before they enter Syria is the administration of Bab al-Hawa crossing. The testing is supposed to be done through a special committee which consists of doctors, pharmacists and laboratory specialists.
