Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) factions have killed 22 ISIS terrorists in the last 24 hours in northern Syria as part of Operation Euphrates Shield, Anadolu news agency reported citing a source from the Turkish Armed Forces.
Warplanes and ground troops hit 111 ISIS positions in al-Bab, Bzaghah and Tadif. Another 103 positions were targeted with artillery and tank shelling.
The military source said Russian jets struck ISIS elements in Deir Qaq southwest of al-Bab. Russian warplanes started carrying airstrikes in support of Turkish operations on Thursday Dec. 29, 2016.
On 24 August, Turkey-backed FSA factions started Operation Euphrates Shield in northern Syria and have since liberated the cities of Jarablus and al-Raei in addition to dozens of villages in Aleppo countryside. FSA fighters have been advancing towards the ISIS stronghold of al-Bab east of Aleppo and are now on the outskirts of the city.
