Tens of Iranian beggars wander in streets of the Iranian capital, Tehran. After begging, they sleep in deserted cemeteries, photos published by the Iranian newspaper “Shehwand” on Tuesday showed.
Abject poverty made Iranians seek shelter in those areas in the neighbourhood of Naseer Abad in Tehran. These graves lack basic human living standards, the paper said and added that these cemeteries became abodes for the living instead of being graves for the dead.
The photos spiraled on social media pages. Activists criticized the Iranian regime’s policy of seeking territorial expansion in Arab countries like Yemen, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq, while Iranians were suffering from these dire conditions in their own country.
