Thick snow adds to misery of Syrian IDPs in Latakia countryside

A snowstorm has damaged flimsy tents, the only shelter displaced Syrians have in a camp in  Latakia northern countryside.

According to the Revolutionary Forces of Syria (RFS) there are 300 tents in the camp which is home to displaced people mostly from northwestern town of Jisr al-Shegour and from within the northern countryside of Latakia.

The opposition’s RFS’ media outlet said 16 tents were damaged in the snowstorm.

Children enjoyed playing in the snow and making snowmen, but it has compounded the hardship experienced by camps’ inhabitants.

"Nothing is as beautiful as this snow, but nothing is as difficult as this life there is no firewood, no pocket money and the situation needs God. It is a sad situation."
