Lavrov: US military officials should monitor Syria truce
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told US Secretary of State John Kerry that military officials from the United States should be fully involved in monitoring the ceasefire in Syria, Reuters reported today.

According to Russia’s foreign ministry, Lavrov called his US counterpart to make the proposal on Saturday, and further suggested that documents related to the Syrian ceasefire agreement should be published to avoid “any double meaning” over how the deal should be implemented.

The ceasefire agreed between Russia and the US came into effect last Monday, but the truce has been fragile at best. Opposition groups have accused the Assad regime of failing to withdraw from key roads to allow aid to come to beleaguered sections of Aleppo under opposition control.

This comes after Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov laid blame for the lack of disclosure of the details of the truce agreement at Washington’s door today, stating that Moscow is not disclosing any documents due to US insistence on secrecy.

It is worth mentioning that Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was over America’s refusal to publicly share details of the Syrian ceasefire agreement, according to AP.
