UN says Assad regime’s army behind chlorine attacks identified
An international investigation has identified those responsible for the chlorine attacks on civilians in Syria, a western diplomat told Reuters on Friday.

Two helicopter squadrons in the Syrian Air Force and two army units are the ones behind the chlorine attacks on civilians, according to the said diplomat.

The findings which the UN and the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) have reached are based on regional and western intelligence information, the diplomat added.

“Syrian government’s Division 22, Brigade 63, Helicopter Squadrons 253 and 255” are those responsible for chlorine attacks, according to the diplomat.

It is worthy to remind that Assad regime has been using chlorine gas on civilians in many areas across Syria including Damascus eastern countryside, Idlib and Aleppo, leaving a number of dead civilians and dozens of suffocating others.
